Myself Sunaina (8 year) from Chendo village from Melghat region and studying in 2nd std. Melghat, a hilly forest area in the Satpura mountain ranges. It is a tribal corner in the northeastern fringes
Maharashtra which comprised koraku tribes. There are 25% more tribal children to be underweight and 40% more likely to die before five years of age compared with an average Indian child. Melghat, with an under-five mortality rate of 74, has twice as many children dying before the age of five. Melghat has unacceptably high maternal mortality, infant mortality and malnutrition. With doctors reluctant to serve in resource limited settings, and hesitant to stay in villages in Melghat, the poor and rural people in this region would find it very difficult to access a healthcare that they could afford. Many die prematurely- unsung and unwept.
